My Friend Inquired If His Tie

My friend inquired if his tie

Is busier than it should be,

While it is blander to my eye

Than any tie I want to see;

But since it’s not the tie at all

That he is so concerned about,

A detail that appears so small

Oughtn’t be any to call out.

The point is, if one asks you to

Give confirmation of a fact, 

It shouldn’t be too much for you

To try to be more inexact,

And give him what he’s asking for

(It isn’t what he says he wants)

But rather something even more,

Which is: a positive response.
