On handouts if you must depend

Whatever you may figure out,

You’re there on the receiving end

Of waiting for a next handout.

You’re not about to be that clear

On what to think of what to do

Considering that you’ll have fear

If there is not enough for you.

It dulls the heart as well as mind

To have to stay dependent on

A helping hand you hope to find

If not now then perhaps anon.

Dependent on what you’ll get for

A moment you expect to take,

Whilst your Creator you’d ignore

In favor of what He will make.
