The Way The World Is Made Is That

The Way The World Is Made Is That

The way the world is made is that
Inside it has something to keep
The outside face which we look at
So as to hold back what is deep.

So that the world is like a screen
And hides whatever is behind,
That’s saying, Seek me to be seen—
My purpose is for you to find.

And if the world was not made so
But all was in an outward way
Then everything would be on show
And we’d be jaded by display.

So hide and seek has been the game
Of what in fact the world’s about,
Since out from hiding no one came
Unless somebody’d call them out.
