A Cow Attempted To Persuade

A Cow Attempted To Persuade

A cow attempted to persuade
A lion how it wasn’t right
To be another’s supper made,
And satisfy his appetite:

“For after all” the cow said “How
Would you, a lion, have to feel,
Should one eat you up like a cow
By making you into his meal?”

The lion, having thought about
All of the cow had had to say
(Her problem being figured out)
Replied the lion, right away:

“Were I the cow, I’d disagree,
And want to be the lion too;
As it would not go well for me,
Albeit would go well for you;

“Given, God wanted me to eat,
(Provided I’d be given food)
As you have very tender meat
That so affects my attitude,

“This could not be by accident,
Ergo, I’ve only one recourse
(Since it’s been by divine intent)
For my just exercise of force;

“Indeed, it may not be so kind
But it is how God made it so”—
The lion fell to, while he dined
Upon the understanding cow,

Who could not help but satisfy
A lion who she had to sate,
For knowing now, exactly why
It was her that the lion ate.
