How Could A Loving God Create

How could a loving God create

A lion having teeth & claws,

For all the little lambs he ate,

Administering jungle laws,

And yet Himself seem fatherly?

If this is what His love’s about

I must admit, that bothers me,

Enough to want to be left out

Of any some such system that

Allows for lion and for lamb,

Or even, say, the mouse and cat,

As justice seems to be a sham

Where mercy has no part to play.

Though I don’t know theology,

For running things in such a way

God owes folks some apology.
