The Chief Of The Chickasaws Is In

The Chief Of The Chickasaws Is In

The chief of the Chickasaws is in
And Christopher Columbus out,
While if you’ll listen I’ll begin
Explaining what it’s all about.

For even though Columbus sailed
Across the ocean to this shore
The good man evidently failed
To do much other than explore;

In other words, Columbus ain’t
A person we should look up to
Although he was the patron saint
Of all discovering what’s new.

Columbus being white, you know,
And not of color, has to be
Of no import—that, even though,
He made a great discovery,

Since, if he’d been indigenous,
And hadn’t come from overseas
None would’ve died of syphilis,
The French venereal disease…

Columbus didn’t stumble on
This continent by some mistake,
In search of China though he’d gone
His voyage history would make,

And what I want to know is where
Would we all be if he stayed put,
And did not come from over there,
Upon this shore to set his foot?

I’ve naught against the Chickasaws,
But all the same what did they do
To take three ships and sail across
The sea in Fourteen ninety-two?
