The Pangolin Is Very Odd
The pangolin is very odd,
Said to be unrelated to
Another creature, only God
Has anything with it to do;
Yet, even so, it still is there
And very like the dinosaur,
(If anything were anywhere
Albeit they’re not anymore)
The pangolin has no defense
Except its overlapping scales
That, albeit, by consequence,
This armor for it still avails.
Subsisting upon grubs and ants
Which it is able to sniff out
It slowly makes its own advance
Preceded by its sniffy snout.
Even six inches underground
In noticing what might exist—
If any earthworm’s to be found
A pangolin has never missed.
I’m quite in awe of pangolins,
Considering each has a claw
That is the biggest ever since
I looked around and any saw,
While he can tear a log apart
For locating a termite’s nest,
Then, in a pile of gravel start
By excavating his own nest,
Where he can burrow in so well,
By turning to the world his back
(Though he can’t anyone compel)
For self defense he has a knack.
