As one at Customs asked him to

See his papers officiously.

“Haven’t you been in France before?”

Upon assuring her of that—

“So you should know I’d ask you for

A passport for me to look at!” 

“Last time,” he said, “I came ashore

By Normandy, all that I found

Was nobody would ask me for
