Reach!

A man who looked up at the moon
Was certain he could get there by
Some basket tied to a balloon,
So he decided, “Why not try?”

He’d “get there if it didn’t burst”
Is what it was he liked to say,
But when he didn’t get there first
He tried to take another way.

The moon being his main intent,
What a ballon could not attain,
Made him seek and experiment,
To come up with an aero-plane.

Yet seeing that as well fell short
He kept on trying nonetheless,
And found out in the last resort,
A rocket-ship spelt his success.

Intention was where he began
To get the wherewithal to try
For that which any person can
Imagine—which is in the sky

Or on the earth; he comes between
The goal that is he’s been destined,
Just so long as he finds that mean
To reach for what he has in mind.

So if you look up toward a star
Although it may be over where
It is so awfully, awfully far—
Already you are over there;

Since, distance is the medium
Of whatever you see you want,
And nothing in between can come,
Unless of course you say you can’t.
