When God With His Best Angels Met

When God With His Best Angels Met

When God with His best angels met
So as to say, “Let us Make Man,”
Those angels started to regret
What God by saying so began:

“Knowing what Man’ll do?” they said
(Into the future they could see
Through history what lay ahead
Of men’s disasters come to be)

But God (Who’d made the Crocodile)
Had reasons angels couldn’t plumb,
And knew that time was but a while,
And good could out of evil come;

Besides, He’d have a bigger plan
That angels couldn’t fathom; for
The meantime He would bet on Man
(In spite of all that lay in store.)
