The year is just about to turn
The corner of another round
So that we tend to look astern
So as to find whatever’s found;
As what’s to come we never know
Because it hasn’t happened yet,
Which only goes, I guess, to show
All we can do is to get set
For what’s about to happen now
That can’t be ever certain for
You never can be certain how
To look at what has gone before
Because a circle can’t be squared
(Its corners aren’t really then)
Whatever’s broken and repaired
’S by coming back to it again.
