How The System Works

The government has got a way

Of giving that which is your due

To someone else for them to say

Yours isn’t what belongs to you.

While I recall some Senator

Who said, Social Security

Would in the future be there for

Wage-earners as a surety,

Where then has all the money gone

That money-earners paid into

The system which was based upon

A payment to them to be due?

Just gone to fund the Government

That fattens on the proceeds for

The money that has all been spent

To leave a working person poor;

Since having ransacked Medicare

The bureaucrats in Washington

Fund those dependent on Welfare

For whatsoever they’ve not done.

So those who paid their taxes plead

For pittances they are denied,

Which find themselves in dire need

For earning what was set aside

To fund the Welfare State instead

Of those who paid the Income Tax

While fattened bureaucrats are fed

By sitting on wage-earners’ backs;

So that the Government which takes

The earnings of the folks who pay

By working for it, comes and breaks

Them taking all their cash away.
