The Long and Short Of It

The older that a person gets
The less which he is able to
Remember, being he forgets
A lot of what it was he knew.

So what may happen recently
Appears to be forgotten for
The fact he simply cannot see,
It has importance anymore.

Albeit, that which does remain
Calls up the very distant past
By coming to mind once again
In being, what it is, will last;

While I’m most likely to recall
What lies inside my memory
That (most important, after all)
Is what it really means to me.
