Each morning as I come awake
And sit up right away,
Acknowledging my God, I take
A moment out to say:
“I thank you, sir, for making me
Exactly as You would,
And, for you’re letting me to see
It, so it’s understood;
“For, if You didn’t tell me that,
I wouldn’t know it’s so,
As that is something to look at
In order I should know,
“That knowledge, in particular,
I shouldn’t be without;
For, knowing who it is you are,
Is what life’s all about.”
As for my knowing how You give
Me life—I’m all the more
Alive, ’cause, knowing that I live,
Might be what Life is for.
