The Modern Quandary

The Modern Quandary

Rene Descartes was as been said
A very a smart philosopher,
Who, using what was in his head,
His own existence did infer.

The question is why did he doubt
If he’d existed from the start,
That he should have to figure out
If he’d be him, M.Descartes?

He had his mother, didn’t he?
And probably his father too?
Why’d he be in this quandary—
Uncertain of his being who?

I’d guess the answer lies in that
Philosophers have got to find
An answer for what they look at,
Primarily, inside their mind.
