Look At The Workings Of Your Car

Look At The Workings Of Your Car

Look at the workings of your car.
Remarkable they are to see:
How you leave anywhere you are
To anywhere you wanna be.

And what’s the secret of the way
It get you going anywhere,
So that you wouldn’t have to stay,
In getting to go over there?

You’ve got your chassis, sure enough,
An axletree and all four wheels;
Your wheel for steering and the stuff
That’s common to automobiles.

While wheels could only go so far,
What else’ll make an engine go
But fuel you’d pump into your car
That keeps the engine going so?

There’s water, just to keep it cool,
And oil to let it smoothly run,
And yet, for all you’d burn of fuel,
A thing remains and only one

Which starts it going as it should;
The one thing that it has to be
Without which all else is no good:
Remember your ignition key!

For, turning that you’ll get a spark,
One spark is all it really takes;
Without it you will miss the mark—
A spark is what an auto makes.

Because, whatever else you’ll do,
To mobilize your vehicle,
To get you where you’re going to
A little spark is all in all.
