In Jungles Animals Are Said
In jungles animals are said
To prey upon each other so
They follow with a furtive tread
On paths the weaker have to go.
And being that they follow on
The trails of others, to be fed,
As after any prey they’ve gone
Instinctively they look ahead.
Meanwhile an animal pursued
Has got eyes upon either side
Because they have the attitude:
Dangers must be identified.
Whenever they are on the trail
Some predator must be behind
Which probably is on their tail
Whose intention is them to find.
Meanwhile the situation’s such
(For predators as well as prey)
They all’ve got to stay in touch,
As it comes out or runs away.
Be glad you’re not some animal
Who in the jungle moves about,
Where no one ever may be still,
To find or else to be found out.
The query all in common pose
For one another always is,
Wherever any creature goes:
Is he my meal or am I his?
Maybe it’s why by day they rest,
As by night they are always out
In one another’s constant quest;
That’s what the jungle is about.
