If God Were Not Our Judge, Say Who

If God was not our Judge, say who

Would inquire,‘so where are you?’ 

Were God not Man’s Creator, when,

He’d ask, ‘wherever were you when

I made the world?’ as He asked Job;

For in His hand He holds the globe.

Were He not Man’s Lawgiver who

Would be there to measure up to?

Whilst if there were no Providence

Who’d puzzle over why or whence?

Whilst, ruled by Force and Accident

Where would be Purpose and Intent?

Then we’d give up the sacred Right

To Conscience, and give into Might;

Whence under God, our Father, we

Believe Man should be Just & Free.
