An earthworm going down into
The ground on coming up for air
Came on his tail (without a clue
It was his tail) to say, “Hi there!”
His tail (being no more than that)
Was unimpressed by what he said
(Who being not inclined to chat
Had no answer to give his head)
His head (receiving no response)
Because his tail would not reply,
For the insult would take offense
(Not even understanding why)
As a result what should he do?
(For his own honor to defend)
But bite his tail off, split in two
And eat himself up in the end.
