They Were Judaea Long Before

They Were Judaea Long Before

They were Judaea long before
A conqueror a Roman came
To slay most of the Jews in war
And alter Judah’s holy name

To “Palestine” for they’d prevent
A Jew returning once again;
That’s why the Roman was intent
On Jews to be doubly slain)

Sowing their Holy Land with salt
To undermine its fertile yield
So Jewish settlement should halt
They left a bloody battlefield.

The Jews continued through exile
Thrown into their captivity,
Allowed to stay for the meanwhile
In any place they had to be,

Compelled to wander everywhere,
So then to be expelled again
The homeland of the heart is there
As in its elsewhere to remain.

Wherever they would go they were
Considered to be strangers to
Those places come from anywhere
To be as only passing through,

And yet wherever they would come,
However long it was they’d stay,
Wherever they would’ve come from
They’d be forever on their way

Somewhere (no others understood)
Exactly where it was they’d been;
The world would be a neighborhood
If they would be the go-between.
