They’re growing corn in order to
Produce a substance, ethanol,
By harvesting more corn to grow
Increasing fuel for one and all
While now—instead of gasoline
That more efficiently did run—
Their gallons-guzzling-machine
For ethanol they have begun.
They want to use this substitute
Though even for the life of me
They are returning to the brute
For horse-empowered energy.
4 gallons of gas to produce 3 gallons of ethanol that runs less efficiently too.
