The Saga Of Karambe

The saga of Karambe
(The last I heard) began
Because a toddler’s mama
Let go her toddler’s hand.

He liked the big gorilla
And wanted to get close
To become more familiar—
But why? God only knows!

The ape in his enclosure
Saw when the kid fell in
That he was even closer
Than any should’ve been.

Some say he came to help him
And others said, to play—
(What’s a gorilla’s welcome
’S not that easy to say!)

What’s known of a gorilla,
Since he was a primate,
He finds what’s unfamiliar
’S meant to intimidate.

The toddler was in danger
(Albeit, was his fault)
Gorilla’s faced by stranger—
Awaits for an assault.

(Gorillas won’t be likely
To take trespassers well,
As all the more are likely
To do what none can tell.

The cops couldn’t be idle
So as to wait and see—
Should he turn homicidal—
There’d be a tragedy.

Some tranquilizer wouldn’t
Have done the job it should,
And seeing that they couldn’t
They did all that they could.

They put down the gorilla
So as they’d save the kid
Who was a naughty fella
Because of what he did.

His papa and his mamma
Who witnessed the attack
On dangerous Karambe
Are glad to get him back.

While even so you’d wonder,
You’d be a bit perplexed
About a cloud they’re under,
As what he will do next?

The thing about all fences
We put around about,
From everyones’ offenses
Wall in as well as out!
