The Tail That Took The Lead
The snake’s tail queried why be led
And have to go so far behind
The leader some declared the head
That tail was unable to find;
Cause, having heard about it from
The rest, remaining of a snake,
Before the tail would have to come
To be dragged after by mistake,
From that perspective of the tail,
In seeing how the rest precede
It wondered what should it avail
To let the head go in the lead?
And so, in following that thought
The tail decided on the way
For him to lead because he ought
In their direction have a say;
So, that the tail said, “I’ll be head,
And let the rest remaining be
The ones who’d follow me instead
If only they would follow me!”
Against all their objections to
The contrary they fell in line
Which nobody should ever do
As it’s against divine design;
But nonetheless it had occurred,
Till all the rest fell in the pit,
In spite of what the tail averred,
And being hurt because of it,
For, what this tale should be about,
Is God must have a reason for
Is God must have a reason for
The head that tails have to find out:
It takes the head to go before.
