Some Say A Mother Has The Right

Some Say A Mother Has The Right

Some say a mother has the right
To terminate her pregnancy
In order that this woman might
A well-adjusted person be.

(That’s to assume that life begins
After a fetus quits the womb
Which just exists by consequence
Of having come into a room.)

So like saved money in her purse
A penny of it she might spend
In any way she wants, and worse,
Her baby’s life’s for her to end.

I wonder how she cares so much
About her own convenience
That she should be so out of touch
As not to worry the expense?

Hang the expense, indeed, because
It’s an insensate tissue mass,
As sonograms should give her pause
Its life she judges on to pass.

So seeing how Planned Parenthood
Not only tears a babe in shreds
But does so for the “Common Good”
Of baby hearts and baby heads;

I can’t help thinking that she has
No feeling left nor intellect,
To think that it’s this tissue mass
Is Science’s right to dissect;

Her baby—that’s her kith and kin—
She’s given over to the Lab
Which serves them as a specimen—
For study or to take a stab.
